To engage all Amharas to accomplish the purposes enumerated in the PURPOSES.

Adhering to a set of core tenets, beliefs, and principles that guide its works and interactions with its partners and stakeholders. These include: excellence, independence, impartiality, relevance, transparence, innovation, mutual respect, trust, collegiality, collaboration, and inclusiveness

Purposes

Mobilizing and organizing Amharas in the greater Chicago area to realize the stated vision and mission of AMACH, monitoring the implementation of resolutions of the general assembly of the membership, collaborating with various groups as appropriate, and building the level of understanding the real situations in Ethiopia require.

Activities

  1. Organizing ethnic Amharas in Chicago into a strong and vibrant community capable of contributing to the Amhara people in Ethiopia and facilitating change through advocacy and diplomatic pressure.
  2. Amhara people labeled as ‘settlers’/’outsiders’ have disappeared, massacred, chopped with machetes, stabbed with spears, cut down with scythes, beaten with bats, and stoned with regional government support. Engaging policymakers, members of Congress, human rights organizations, and media agencies to inform them on the humanitarian crisis Amharas are facing in Ethiopia.
  3. Supporting Amharas in Ethiopia impacted by targeted violence, displacement, imprisonment, and the countless massacres from Metekel to Wollega to Maikadra to Merawi and all over our country.
  4. Collaborating & coordinating with other Amhara civic organizations on mutual projects to ensure our voices are even louder.
